I’m Andrew Jamieson, a Scottish entrepreneur currently based in Glasgow.
I’m the founder of Ground Floor Group, where I work with ambitious specialist founders to build better businesses. My background is in health and fitness, my present is firmly in business, and over time, my aim is to become a backer of exceptional people and ideas.
Have a look around to explore what I’m building, what I’m thinking about and my other pursuits. If something resonates, I’d love to hear from you.
You can find me on LinkedIn or X, or message me on WhatsApp.
My main venture. I founded GFG to help ambitious first time entrepreneurs and business owners build and grow their companies — advising, solving and connecting through The Fixer, and working more deeply with a small number of companies as Build Partners and Co-Found Partners.
My mantra: You Grow. We Grow.
Ground Floor Group’s first Build Partner. An award-winning medical aesthetics clinic based in Hamilton, Glasgow. I’ve worked alongside founder Dr Lauren since 2021 and now also serve as Managing Director.
RxLab
A GFG Co-Found Partner. Scotland’s Aesthetics Network co-founded with Dr Lauren. We’re building a platform to connect, support and create opportunities for practitioners and partners across Scotland’s medical aesthetics industry.
Each week I write The Builders Bulletin on Substack, where I share my thoughts, observations and lessons from building and growing businesses.
I was born in Glasgow but spent much of my childhood growing up in Cyprus — or, as my friends put it, distilled in Glasgow, matured in Cyprus. It’s where my love of Manchester United began, where my parents live now and where I learned that I’m solar-powered. Cyprus and Fig Tree Bay are places I never really stop thinking of as home.
I moved to Edinburgh in my late teens with ambitions of becoming a professional golfer. There, I started taking physical training very seriously because I wanted to get better at golf, but somewhere along the way became far more fascinated with training itself — and then nutrition and human behaviour. Eventually, I had to concede that I probably wasn’t going to be the next Tiger Woods.
So I changed direction.
In 2011, I moved to London to learn my new craft – 1:1 Personal Training – spending roughly five brilliant years there, studying and working (and partying) my way through everything I could get my hands on — from exercise mechanics and rehabilitation to nutrition, lifestyle management and psychology. I learned from systems and organisations including Resistance Training Specialist (RTS), Precision Nutrition, Poliquin and Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT), and worked with a lot of special people.
Glasgow called me home and I opened my own gym in 2015 — my first proper business.
It was a rollercoaster.
I learned plenty about personal training, but considerably more about business — much of it the hard way.
Then Kevin Ashcroft, who became my business mentor, came along. With his guidance, I started learning another new craft: how businesses actually work. I learned in the trenches, eventually closing the gym and going to work alongside Kevin for a year.
This phase changed the direction of my career.
In 2021, I began working with Dr Lauren Medical Aesthetics. And what started as helping another founder grow her business gradually became the blueprint for what I wanted to spend the next chapter of my working life doing.
Today, that’s Ground Floor Group.
I can now see my career shaping up into three broad epochs:
Body → Business → Backer
Body was where I started — learning how people work and how to help them change.
Business is where I am now — building companies and working alongside ambitious founders.
Backer is where I’m going — using the experience and capital accumulated to back exceptional people and ideas.
I still train religiously, follow United as fervently as ever and, after many years away from the game, I’ve fallen head over heels with golf again.
I was introduced to golf very early — my grandpa bought me my first set of clubs when I was three.
I grew up playing with my Dad at the old UNGC course in Nicosia, Cyprus, before spending my teenage years immersed in the game back in Scotland. I reached a low single-figure handicap, shot a career-best 69 gross at Haggs Castle and once had rather serious ideas about becoming a professional.
After many years away, I’ve fallen in love with the game again.
That rekindled obsession has also led to Ground Floor Golf — a project close to my heart, helping grow the game in Pakistan from the ground floor up.
These days, I’m mostly interested in seeing how good I can get again, playing great courses with good people and enjoying having golf back in my life.
Manchester United has been one of the great constants in my life.
My childhood best friend Nicholas, the Corner Pub and a United sweatband, combined with a Ryan Giggs screamer against QPR, were all it took for me to fall in love with the club.
I’m now into my 35th campaign — from the extraordinary years under Sir Alex Ferguson to the rather more sobering ones that have followed.
Some of my happiest memories involve United: watching European nights with my Dad at my Gran’s, the Treble, and weekend trips to Old Trafford with my old friend Big C.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to witness some of the greatest players, teams and moments in the club’s history — along with Massimo Taibi’s howler. Yes, I was there.
And despite everything they’ve put me through since 2013, I remain as feverent as ever.
United. 🔴
